Molly & Penny's Grub

Molly is an 11 year old, 60-pound, German Short Haired Pointer. Penny is a 16 month old, 50-pound, German Short Haired Pointer. Both are very active girls and their meals are very similar.

Morning Meal:
1-cup ground meat -(I, alternate between lamb, turkey, and venison)

1 - 2 tablespoons plain yogurt

2- tablespoons pulped vegetables (I will pulp a variety of vegetables in the food processor once a week. This mix rarely looks the same two weeks in a row. Examples of the types of vegetables I use include, spinach, zucchini, carrots, basil, parsley, kale, dandelion greens, mint, sprouts, lettuce, beets, squash.)

I will add to this mixture a variety of supplements, which include: salmon oil, olive oil, vitamins, and wheat germ oil.

Evening Meal:

A meaty bone - this might be a lamb neck, lamb shank, turkey neck, chicken necks. Sometimes the girls will get their bones in the morning and ground meat, vegetable mix in the evening. Sometimes they get bones in the morning and evening. I am aware of their weight and activity level and will adjust the amount of food they each receive in order to maintain their optimum weight.

For example Penny is very active and does not maintain her weight as well on the leaner meats such as the venison. So Penny gets more of the fatty meats. Molly, on the other hand, can be more sedentary at times and tends toward the chunky side, so she does get more of the leaner meats.
