Ashley - A Feline Perspective on Raw |
For most of her life, Ashley, now 20 years old, has enjoyed a conventional kibble diet. Along with this diet came the usual health issues, bad teeth, a poor coat, weight issues, and a severe case of arthritis. Ashley is a longhaired calico and had to have mats combed out of her coat regularly. She had become very sedentary and grew so fat she could not clean her bottom. This resulted in a very irritated, inflamed, ulcerated, bottom and a cranky, irritable, cat. Two years ago Ashley was stared on the RAW diet and she became a new feline. Within a month her arthritis was a condition of the past and her activity level increased. This combination helped normalize her weight and she could once again groom herself. Since this diet change, the nature of her coat changed and she is no longer bothered by matting hair. Her ulcerated bottom has healed and her teeth are clean and white. This change in diet has not only extended Ashley's life but has greatly improved the quality of her life. She loves to be out and about once again clearly enjoying her life. Often, cats can be especially difficult to switch to a RAW diet, as they can be very sensitive to food texture and shape. Fortunately, Ashley was the exception and made the transition quite easily. Her diet consists of a variety of ground raw meats, bone dust, as well as, chicken and turkey necks. It is very important when transitioning a cat to the raw diet not to let your cat go for more than a day or two without eating. Cats can easily become anorexic and simply starve themselves. If you do have a feline friend who will allow you to switch their diet to raw, the health benefits are phenomenal and the stink in the litter box will become a thing of the past. Just ask Ashley. |
